Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do we bring our cat to you, or do you come to us?

I’ll come to you! Cat’s are territorial creatures and much prefer their home comforts. Leaving them amongst their familiar smells, sounds, sights etc will keep their stress levels to a minimum while you’re away- my visits will keep them happy and entertained!

  • How much are your visits?

My prices are set higher than other cat carers as my services are completely bespoke and personalised to each individual client’s needs.

I only reveal my prices during a Magic Mirror Discovery Call on Zoom- they are free and last ~30min at a time that works best for you.

  • Do you look after dogs?

I work exclusively with cats- my clients may get stressed out if I arrive smelling of dog!

Also, there are lots of wonderful dog carers offering premium care, but not enough premium cat carers.

  • Where do you cover?

I’m available nationwide for house sitting!

For visits, I cover~8mi radius of Gerrards Cross, S Bucks

    Areas including:

Windsor, Eton, Staines, Hillingdon, Cowley, Ickenham, Ruislip, Uxbridge, Eastcote, Northwood, Harefield, Rickmansworth, Chorleywood, Amersham, Beaconsfield, Taplow

  • How long do you spend at each visit?

All visits are a minimum of 30 minutes!

As a premium care provider, I have a selection of package options available enabling you to create a bespoke experience to suit you and your kitty purrfectly!

  • How many times will you visit per day?

The minimum is 1 per day, but I’m available to visit twice or even 3 times. I depends on your cat’s care needs and your budget.

  • Who does the visits?

    Me!

If I’m unavailable in advance of the booking, I’ll ask if you’re happy for my colleague Kirsty to cover me. If you are, I’ll bring her to meet you. I’ll always work with you to find a solution that you’re happy with!

I also always ask you for an emergency contact that also has a spare key in case I have an emergency during your booking. All communication will remain open with you to ensure you’re not left in the dark!

  • What if something goes wrong?

I always ask for an emergency contact- just in case! I ensure all communication is open too.

I also have Pet 1st Aid training, plus BSc Applied Animal Studies, with a focus on health science.

I’m most often calm in a crisis too- being ADHD  has it’s perks like that!

  • When is the best time to book with you?

My books can fill up months in advance- I already have a couple bookings for next year! I recommend booking as soon as you have your holidays booked!

You don’t need to have dates booked to join the Purry Clowder though, in fact I recommend you join me before you have dates- that makes the whole process much smoother!

  • Why do you charge more than other cat sitters?

As a Premium StayCATion Provider, I’m delighted to give my Purry Clowder members a luxury and magical experience that includes lots of added high value perks and benefits throughout the year. I don’t class my services as “cat sitting” as I offer so much more than that.

  • How do we pay you?

Invoices are generated after you submit a booking and are payable in full within 2 weeks unless alternative arrangements by previous agreement. I accept cards but prefer bank transfer or cash.

All bookings are subject to 50% non-refundable retainer.

  • Are you able to give my cat their medication?

    Yes absolutely!

Thanks to my degree, I am able to administer tablets quickly and easily just like vet nurses and can administer injections (insulin), creams, eye drops, etc. Just be sure to let me know the dosages etc.

I am not a vet or vet nurse, so cannot give medical advice.

  • Cat you look after kittens?

Absolutely! I have packages that are espcially recommended for kittens. depending on their age. Younger kittens under 6 months also need more frequent meals and supervision.

For very young kittens that you've recently brought home (in the last 2-3 months), I'd actually recommend you ask the breeder- good breeders will happily board their own kittens.

  • Will you come and meet me and my cat before the booking?

    Yes absolutely!

Once you register to work with me, we’ll schedule a time for me to visit you and your kitty at home- this visit is called Happy Ever After Starts Here (HEASH). We will spend a good hour getting to know each other and I’ll ask you to show me/tell me everything I need to know to give your kitty the ultimate level of care.

  • Are you insured?

Yes, my insurance cover is fully comprehensive and will be delighted to show you proof of insurance upon request.

  • Do you have any testimonials I can see?

    Yes absolutely!

I have a Good ranking on Trustpilot and Google.

Moreover, my clients would also be happy to give references.

  • How do you keep my key secure?

Keys are stored in a discreet lockbox and labelled with a plain coloured tag with only your cat’s name. No other names, addresses or details are written on tags.

  • What happens if I need to cancel?

Hopefully you won’t have to- no one wants to have to cancel their holidays!

But sometimes things do come up and I understand.

Please ensure to give me as much notice as possible, all bookings are subject to 50% non-refundable retainer until within 4 weeks of booking starting when 100% is non-refundable as I cannot guarantee finding another booking in time.

A credit note will be offered in the first instance. Do talk to me openly, I am human, not a big corp  and will do everything possible to accommodate.

  • I have other pets too, can I still book you?

    Yes definitely!

Lots of my clients also have other animals, including guinea pigs, snakes, Giant African Land Snails, fish and chickens! The only animals I won’t look after are dogs due to their additional high demands (walking, etc), and spiders...

  • Can you just pop my key through the door after your last visit?

No, for very good reason- if you get delayed on your journey home and your cat may miss their next meal, I can still ensure they receive the care they need until you’re safely home. I once had a client be delayed for an extra 2 days due to flight cancellations!

  • I have an Extremely Shy Cat and I'm really worried about leaving them- will they be ok?

Extremely Shy Cats are my specialty- I have a Shy Cat Protocol to work with your cat on the weeks leading up to your booking commencing. This is to ensure that not only is your Extremely Shy Cat comfortable and accepting of me being in their Castle, they look forward to Aunty Sophie visiting and it provides them with much comfort and enjoyment- and brings you much needed reassurance and relief!

  • Do I have to book a Magic Mirror Discovery Call in order to book?

Yes you do- it’s only 30min long, if the times available on the booking link don’t match your schedule, I can have a look to move my calendar to accomodate.

It’s a good opportunity to meet face-to-face conveniently which is important if you’re going to trust me to enter your home to care for your most vulnerable family member unsupervised!

Plus I have some exciting things to show you that you can look forward to enjoying as part of the experience of joining my Purry Clowder!

  • Do I have to join your Purry Clowder if I just want to book you?

Yes, you’d be mad not to!

I offer so many fun and exciting things around the year, you’ll get serious FOMO otherwise!

Join us! We have cookies and cat nip!

  • Can't you just send me your price list?

I only give prices on Magic Mirror Discovery Calls, my service brochure doesn’t include the context of all the other high value aspects of joining the Purry Clowder.

As a Premium StayCATion Provider, I endeavor to offer a luxury experience year-round, I’m not a "cat sitter".
